How do I enable my camera and/or microphone for a Preciate Social?

In order to join a Preciate Social, you must first enable your camera and mic in your browser's privacy settings. Here's how to do that based on the browser you are using.

Click on the type of browser you are using to see instructions that are relevant to you:

Google Chrome

Safari

Firefox

Edge

OR, if you are using a Lenovo device, and you receive the following image instead of your video feed in a Social, click here.

 

 

 


Google Chrome

  1. If you are using Google Chrome, you should be able to enable your camera and mic by clicking on the lock icon in the top left hand corner of your browser
  2. Change your camera AND microphone settings to “allow” from the dropdown options
    Now refresh the page and you should be good to go!

    If you are not able to change the camera and microphone settings as indicated above, and/or are seeing the popup below, you may have accidentally blocked Preciate by not allowing microphone/camera access.

    If that is the case, Click on the three icons in the top right hand corner of the screen and click on "Settings"

    That will open your browser settings in a new tab. Now click on "Privacy and Security on the left had side

Safari

  1. If you are using Safari, you should be able to enable your camera and mic by clicking on Safari, and then Settings for this website” in the top left hand corner of your browser
  2. Change your camera AND microphone settings to “allow” from the dropdown option
  3. Now refresh the page and you should be good to go!

 


Firefox

  1. If you are using Firefox, you should be able to enable your camera and mic by clicking on the lock icon in the top left hand corner of your browser
  2. Remove the blockers for your camera AND microphone by clicking the X button to the right of both options.
  3. Once both the camera and microphone settings have been removed from the blocked list of permissions, refresh the page and you should be good to go!

 


Edge

  1. If you are using Edge, you should be able to enable your camera and mic by clicking on the lock icon in the top left hand corner of your browser
  2. Change your camera AND microphone settings to “allow” from the dropdown options
  3. Now refresh the page and you should be good to go!

Video Not Working on Lenovo Devices

If your webcam is not working with Social on your Lenovo laptop, there are some simple troubleshooting steps that you can take.

The following steps go over troubleshooting tips if you receive the following as a video feed within Preciate Social:

Click on the operating system you are using on your Lenovo Device to see instructions that are relevant to you:

Windows 7

Windows 8

Windows 10

Windows 7

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu and search Lenovo - Web Conferencing.
  2. Once opened, start the camera and close the Lenovo - Web Conferencing application.
  3. Refresh the page for your Social and you should be good to go!

Windows 8

  1. Open the Windows start menu.
  2. Search for "lenovo" and click Lenovo Settings. If you do not have Lenovo Settings, install it from the Microsoft Store.
  3. Select the CAMERA tab at the top.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of settings, and change the Privacy Mode to Off.
  5. Refresh the page for your Social and you should be good to go!

Windows 10

  1. Open the Windows start menu.
  2. Search for "lenovo" and click Lenovo Vantage. If you don't have Lenovo Vantage, install it from the Microsoft Store.
  3. Click Hardware Settings > Audio/Visual.
  4. Scroll down and switch the Camera Privacy Mode toggle to Off.

    Note: If the Camera Privacy Mode keeps changing to On, check if your Lenovo laptop has a physical switch to enable or disable your camera. Make sure it is switched on.
  5. Refresh the page for your Social and you should be good to go!
